Jan. 14, 2012. On Jan. 9, detectives from the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Division conducted a vehicle interdiction stop and seized approximately three grams of methamphetamine from Baxter Smith James, 69, of 135 Long Street in Boone.
James was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of an open container/malt beverage. The driver of the vehicle, Robin Van Shook, 59, of Foscoe, was also charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of an open container/malt beverage, and displaying a fictitious registration plate.
James is currently facing charges of PWIMSD methamphetamine, possession of a firearm by felon, maintaining a dwelling CS (F), and possession of drug paraphernalia from a search warrant which was executed on Oct. 5 in which detectives seized 23 grams of methamphetamine.
