Watauga County Sheriff’s Office Seizes Nearly Two Ounces of Cocaine in Undercover Bust at Tanger Outlets

Oct. 7, 2014. During an undercover operation on Monday, narcotics officers from the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with patrol deputies, seized 59.2 grams of Cocaine from a major distributor to the Watauga area.

The suspect, Leopoldo Resendiz-Hernandez, 35, of 33 27th St. NW Apt 3 in Hickory, delivered 2 ounces of Cocaine to detectives as part of an undercover operation. Resendiz-Hernandez was arrested in the parking lot of Tanger Outlets in Blowing Rock. The Cocaine, if sold by the gram, has an estimated street value of $5,600.

Resendiz-Hernandez has been charged with trafficking in cocaine by possession, trafficking in cocaine by transport, PWISD Cocaine, and maintaining a vehicle and dwelling place. He is currently being held at the Watauga County Detention Facility in lieu of a $40,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in district court on Nov. 18, 2014.
