During the course of the search, detectives located two mason jars with a clear liquid which was identified as methamphetamine oil. The chemical process to create “meth oil” is the final stage in the manufacturing process before the oil is synthesized into methamphetamine.

Joshua Edward Baird, 27, of 157 Carriage Street in Mountain City, Tenn., was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine. Baird was given no bond because of his past history of Methamphetamine offenses.

Prior to his recent arrest on June 9, Baird was out on bond for four separate methamphetamine offenses.

  • On January 5, 2013, Baird was charged with two counts of conspiracy to manufacture and two counts of possess/distribute meth precursors.
  • On September 23, 2013, Baird was charged with attempt to exceed pseudoephedrine limits.
  • On January 18, 2014, Baird was charged with possession of pseudoephedrine with a prior meth conviction.
  • March 14, 2014, Baird was charged with three counts of conspiracy to possess meth precursors.

Baird is scheduled to appear in District Court on July 30, 2014.
