Carolyn Dean Wilson Oxentine, D. Nov. 24, 2013

Carolyn Dean Wilson Oxentine, age 62, of Camp Joy Road, Zionville, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2013, at her home.

Carolyn was born March 25, 1951 in Caldwell County, a daughter of the late Harry Lee Wilson and Dorothy Dean McNeil Wilson. She was a retired CNA2 and was employed with Appalachian State University for over 30 years. Carolyn was a member of Willow Valley Baptist Church.

Carolyn is survived by one daughter, Tonya Lee Adams and husband William Ervin of Granite Falls; one son, William Michael Oxentine of Spruce Pine: three granddaughters, Hannah Oxentine Dimini and husband Nicholas of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Macey Oxentine and Gracie Oxentine, both of Mountain City, Tennessee; three grandsons, Dustin Logan Adams and Jake Wyatt Ervin, both of Granite Falls, and Michael Oxentine of Mountain City; a special niece, Kacey Rogers of Lenoir; three sisters, Reba Cassidy and husband Gerald of Lenoir, Doris Lowe of Roanoke, Virginia, and Peggy Rogers of Lenoir; one brother-in-law, Dave Warren of Boone, and one sister-in-law, Jeanette Barkley of Waco, North Carolina. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Oxentine; one brother, William Jack Wilson; one sister-in-law, Louise “Shelby” Warren, and one brother-in-law, Stewart “Bug” Oxentine.

Funeral services for Carolyn Dean Wilson Oxentine will be conducted Thursday morning, November 28, 2013, at 11:00 o’clock, at Willow Valley Baptist Church. The body will lie in state, at the church, from 10:00 until 11:00 o’clock. Officiating will be Reverend Ray Greene and Reverend Derick Wilson. Burial will follow in Willow Valley Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, from 6:00 until 8:00 o’clock, at Hampton Funeral Service.

Snow Aldridge Hopper, age 91, of 198 The Ponds Road, Banner Elk, passed away, Saturday morning, November 23, 2013 at Watauga Medical Center.

Mrs. Hopper was born August 31, 1922 in Watauga County, a daughter of the late Linville and Julia McLean Aldridge. She was a homemaker and a charter member of Foscoe Christian Church.

Mrs. Hopper is survived by two sons, Jimmy Hopper and wife Pat of Linville, and Ron Hopper of the Foscoe Community; one daughter, Lisa Aldridge and husband Bob of the Foscoe Community; one sister, Bernell Meredith of Banner Elk and Leesburg, Florida; one granddaughter, Doddi Aldridge of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; two grandsons, Dustin Aldridge and wife Alicia of the Foscoe Community, and Marshall Hopper and wife Tiffany of Zionville; one step-grandson, Quentin Stewart; one step-granddaughter, Angie Stewart; two great-grandsons, Cameron and Parker, and one great-granddaughter, Mollie Grace. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Shona Aldridge, Shula Aldridge, Clus Aldridge, Garner Aldridge, Frank Aldridge, and Jim Aldridge, and three sisters, Verla Aldridge, Mina Jo Storie, and Mamie Ethel Shook.

Funeral services for Snow Aldridge Hopper will be conducted Monday evening, November 25, 2013, at 7:00 o’clock, at Foscoe Christian Church. The body will lie in state, at the church, from 5:00 until 7:00 o’clock. Officiating will be Pastor Dan Burkes and Pastor Ken Caswell. Private burial services will be conducted Tuesday in the Foscoe Community Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday evening, from 5:00 until 7:00, at the church, prior to the service.

Vera Perry Isenhour, age 86, of Julius Drive, Zionville, passed away Saturday morning, November 23, 2013.

Mrs. Isenhour was born April 4, 1927 in Watauga County, a daughter of the late Roscoe and Ella Fletcher Perry. She was a retired sales clerk for Belk Department Store, and a member of Brushy Fork Baptist Church.

Mrs. Isenhour is survived by a daughter, Sharon Isenhour and companion Jerry Hunter, and two sons, Larry Isenhour and wife Texie, and Robert M. “Mike” Isenhour and wife Lisa, all of Zionville, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, and one sister, Ethel Bumgarner and husband Maynard of Lynchburg, Virginia. She is also survived by numerous friends and her church family at Brushy Fork Baptist Church, where she was a member for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Joe “Pete” Isenhour.

Funeral services for Vera Perry Isenhour will be conducted Tuesday afternoon, November 26, 2013, at 2:00 o’clock at Brushy Fork Baptist Church. The body will lie in state, at the church, from 1:00 until 2:00 o’clock. Officiating will be Reverend Toby Oliver and Reverend Peter Vandenberg. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday evening, from 6:00 until 8:00, at Hampton Funeral Service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Brushy Fork Baptist Church, 3915 Highway 421 N, Vilas, NC 28692.
