Harold Lavern Warren, age 93, of Essex, Maryland, a former resident of Boone, passed away Friday, July 18, 2014.

Mr. Warren is survived by a son Herman Warren and wife Mary, a granddaughter Rebecca King and husband Michael, a great-granddaughter Faith Makayla King, and a brother, Lon Warren, of the Mabel Community.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Ruth Warren.

Funeral services for Harold Lavern Warren will be conducted Tuesday, July 22, at 11:00 o’clock at Bruzdzinski Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Monday from 3:00 until 5:00 o’clock and 7:00 until 9:00 o’clock at Bruzdzinski Funeral Home.

Rhea Hartley Harris (August 21, 1938 – July 17, 2014) 

Rhea Hartley Harris, age 75, of Highland Hall Road, Boone, passed away Thursday morning, July 17, 2014, at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Lenoir, after a six year battle with cancer.

Rhea was born August 21, 1938 in Watauga County, the daughter of the late Homer Hartley and Alma Bowles Hartley. She was a 1957 graduate of Lexington Senior High School. She retired from Blowing Rock Country Club after many years of service as Comptroller. Rhea was a member of Advent Christian Church in Boone.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed the outdoors, growing flowers, and being with her family.

Rhea is survived by her husband Richard of 56 years; one daughter, Debbie Aldridge and husband David of Rydal, Georgia, one son, Mark Harris and wife Kathy of Blowing Rock; three grandsons, Matthew Aldridge and wife Ellen of Cary, North Carolina, Kevin and Chris Harris of Johns Creek, Georgia, and two step grand-daughters, Kristi Wolfe of League City, Texas, and Julie Wolfe of Baltimore, Maryland. She is also survived by a number of cousins, including Sue Hartley of Boone, and many close friends.

A memorial service for Rhea Hartley Harris will be conducted Saturday afternoon, July 19, 2014, at 2:00 o’clock, at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Reverend Gordon Noble.

The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon, following the memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, North Carolina, 28645.
