Ivey Robert Moore, Sr., D. Jan. 7, 2012
Mr. Ivey Robert Moore, Sr., age 92, of Dewitt Barnett Road, Vilas, died Monday, January 7, 2013, at his home.
Mr. Moore was born January 15, 1920 in Watauga County, a son of the late Roy Bynum Moore and Ida Parlier Moore. He was a farmer and served in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Moore was a member of Mount Lebanon Baptist Church.
Mr. Moore is survived by three sons, Robert Moore, Jr. and wife Mildred, Raymond Moore and wife Jan, and Floyd Moore and wife Sue, all of Vilas; three daughters, Dora Lee Story and husband Harvey of Lenoir, Ruth McCloud of Elk Park, and Marie Bumgarner and husband Bill of Vilas; four sisters, Hazel Arnett and Blanche Ham, both of Lenoir, Bertha Greene and husband Willard and Betty Greene and husband Howard, all of Lenoir; one brother, Lewis Moore and wife Violet of Lenoir; one sister-in-law, Mary Jo Earp of Elizabethton, Tennessee, and special friends, Janet and Neil Shoaf and their family of St. Petersburg, Florida, Jim and Lynn Wingrove and their family of Greenville, South Carolina, and Ralph and Pat Huskins of Huntersville, North Carolina. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ada Greer Moore; one son-in-law, Boyd McCloud; two brothers, Clyde and Dana Moore; two sisters-in-law, Gladys Moore and Hazel Moore, and two brothers-in-law, Ray Arnette and Elmer Hamm.
Funeral services for Mr. Ivey Robert Moore, Sr. will be conducted Friday afternoon, January 11, 2013, at 2:00 o’clock, at Mount Lebanon Baptist Church. The body will lie in state, at the church, from 1:00 until 2:00 o’clock. Officiating will be Reverend Wynn Greer, Reverend Burl Greer, and Reverend Lonnie Barnes. Burial will follow in the Danner Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening, from 6:00 until 9:00 o’clock, at Hampton Funeral Service. At other times friends may call at the Moore residence, 400 Dewitt Barnett Road, Vilas.

Dottie M. Glenn, D. Jan. 6, 2013
Mr. Dottie Mast Glenn, age 95, Vilas, passed away Sunday morning, January 6, 2013 at Glenbridge Health & Rehabilitation.
Born February 26, 1917 in Watauga County, he was a son of the late Dalton and Myrtle Mast Glenn. Mr. Glenn was a member of Willowdale Baptist Church. He was a US Army Air Corps Veteran who served during WWII as a pilot. Dottie owned and operated Glenn’s Grocery and Hardware in Vilas for 34 years.
He is survived by two nieces; Leslie Humphreys of Daytona Beach, and Glenda Evans of Vilas, one nephew; Tom Lawrence and wife Nona of Vilas. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife; Edith Rominger Glenn, two sisters; Gladys Mast and Lucy Lawrence and one niece; Betty Jo Mast.
Funeral services for Mr. Dottie Mast Glenn will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at Willowdale Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Eugene Braswell.
Burial with military honors provided by American Legion Post 130 will follow at Adams Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 12:30 until 2 o’clock.

Melissa Marie Hampton, affectionately known as ‘Big Granny’, age 49, of Forest Hill Drive, Boone, died Saturday, January 5, 2013.
Melissa was born May 15, 1963 in Columbia, South Carolina. She was formerly employed as a secretary for the Watauga County Hunger and Health Coalition.
Miss Hampton is survived by her parents, Dale and Marie Gambill Hampton of Boone; son, Robert Kennedy and daughter, Mariah Kennedy, both of Boone; four grandchildren, Rieghly Yeoman, Donivn Harris, Tierra Kennedy and Bianna Kennedy all of Boone; and brother, Ronald Hampton and fiancé, Beth, of Boone.
Memorial services will be conducted Friday, January 11, 2013, at 2 PM at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Pastor Roy Dobyns. The family will receive friends Friday from 1 until 2 o’clock, prior to services, at Austin & Barnes.

Margaret “Peg” Allen, Jan. 5, 2013
Margaret “Peg” Allen, age 96, of 2009 Deck Hill Road, Blowing Rock passed away Saturday, January 5, 2013, at her home.
Mrs. Allen is survived by her daughter Meg Andrews and husband Johnny of Blowing Rock, two granddaughters, Kaitlin Neff of Raliegh and Kayleigh Andrews of Blowing Rock, and two grandsons, Michael Neff and Mark Andrews, both of Blowing Rock. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceeded in death by her husband, Charles T. Allen.
Memorial services for Margaret “Peg” Allen will be conducted Monday afternoon, January 7th, 2013, at 2:00 o’clock, at Boone Advent Christian Church. Officiating will be Pastor Gordon A. Noble.

Ken Buel of Sugar Grove, passed away on the morning of Friday, January 4th 2013.
He was born October 23, 1942 in Delhi, NY to Robert and Ruth Gonyo Buel. Ken owned and operated an asphalt company and was a life long truck driver. He was an avid hunter and his favorite pastime was farming.
He leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Sue; sons, Wayne and wife, Debby, of Englewood, Florida, Rod and wife, Anita, of Largo, Florida, and Jason and wife, Sally, of Raleigh; his mother, Ruth Gonyo Burdick of Florida; sisters, Kathy Stanfield, and husband, Robert, and Barb VanZandt, all of Florida, and Theresa Hof of MI; grandchildren, Chad and wife Kara, Megan, Paige and husband, Joey, and Ryan, and great grandchildren, Kate and Kolton, all of Florida. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Let his family be at peace knowing that God lifted Ken home.
His father, Robert Buel, preceded him in death.
The family will have a private service for Ken Buel at a later date.

Dollie Greene Jordan, D. Jan. 4, 2013
Dollie Greene Jordan, age 90, of Flowers Branch Road, Deep Gap, passed away Friday afternoon, January 4, 2013, at Gateway Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Lenoir.
Mrs. Jordan was born February 20, 1922 in Watauga County, a daughter of the late Copna and Fannie Norris Greene. She was a homemaker and a member of Stony Fork Baptist Church.
Mrs. Jordan is survived by four daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Davis (Jenny) of Granite Falls; Mrs. Joyce Estes of Granite Falls; Mr. and Mrs. David Greer (Pat) of Lenoir, and Dr. and Mrs. Larry Anderson (Diana) of Morganton; two sons, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Jordan (Jewell) of Elkin, and Mr. June Jordan of Ferguson; five granddaughters, Melina Jordan, Melissa Hahn, Regina Morrow, Lisa Sims, and Angela Day, and two grandsons, Todd Jordan and Wayne Logsdon. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren, three great great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bynum “Dick” Jordan; eight sisters, and three brothers.
Funeral services for Dollie Greene Jordan will be conducted Monday afternoon, January 7, 2013, at 2:00 o’clock, at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. The body will lie in state, at the chapel, from 1:00 until 2:00 o’clock. Officiating will be Reverend Sherrill Wellborn. Burial will follow in Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday afternoon, from 1:00 until 2:00 o’clock, at the funeral home, prior to the service.
