Clyde W. Miller, D. Jan. 23, 2013
Mr. Clyde W. Miller, age 93, of Meat Camp Road, Boone, passes away Wednesday morning, January 23, 2013 at home. Born October 31, 1919 in Watauga County he was a son of the late John Clay and Esther Jane Eller Miller. Clyde was a farmer and a member of Proffit’s Grove Baptist Church.
He is survived by two sons; Fred Miller and wife Libby, and Mike Miller, two grandchildren; David and Rebecca Dawn Miller Harmon all of Boone, and great granddaughter, Eva Grace Harmon of Boone; two step granddaughters; Treva Hardy of Boone and Kimberly Rominger of West Jefferson, and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife; Ella Grace Miller, his special friend; Sarah Greene, 5 sisters; Pearl Winebarger, Lois Winebarger, Chessie Winebarger, Blanche Osborne, and an infant, and 4 brothers; Van, Clint, Ford and Ward Miller.
Funeral services for Mr. Clyde W. Miller will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 1 o’clock at Proffit’s Grove Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Delmar James, Rev. Eric Proffit and Rev. Jerry Moretz. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:30 until 1 o’clock at Proffit’s Grove Baptist Church.

Nathan Ridge Bivens, age 17, of Hickory Nut Gap Road, Banner Elk, died Wednesday morning, January 23, 2013, at his home.
Nathan is survived by his parents, Keith Lee Bivens and Rebecca Trivette Bivens of the home; his maternal grandparents, Reverend Richard L. and Margaret Trivette of Banner Elk; his paternal grandparents, Gary and Barbara Bivens, and Judy and Steve Whisnant of Maiden, and his maternal great-grandmother, Rebecca Pearl Tester (Rebecca’s Grandmother) of Blowing Rock. He is also survived by a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Harold F. Buzzy Wolf, D. Jan. 22, 2013
Harold F. “Buzzy” Wolf, age 84, of High Cliff Circle, Seven Devils, died Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at Watauga Medical Center in Boone.
Mr. Wolf is survived by his wife of 59 years, Laurel Pelzman Wolf; one son, Harold F. Wolf, III and wife Andrea of Walnut Creek, California; one daughter, Teri Wolf Bonomo and husband Wayne of Oak Hills, Virginia; four grandsons, Gregory Thomas Polgar of Washington, DC, Eric Wolf Polgar of Oak Hills, Virginia, Adam Donald Wolf and Harold F. Wolf, IV, both of Walnut Creek, and one brother, Fred Legerman Wolf of Florida.

Catherine M. Pistoresi, D. Jan. 21, 2013
Catherine Mariani Pistoresi, 96, of Sports Club Lane, Boone, and recently of Appalachian Brian Estates, died Monday, January 21, 2013 at Glenbridge Health and Rehabilitation. She was born February 5, 1916 in Spring Valley, Illinois to Antonio and Adele Foli Mariani. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Natale Pistoresi; brother, Theodore N. Ressi; and two infant brothers.
Catherine moved to Chicago, Illinois at the age of 12 where she worked as a seamstress until retirement at the age of 70. In 2006, she and her sister, Angelina Smith, moved to Boone to be closer to family. She was a member of St. Elizabeth of the Hill Country Catholic Church. Catherine loved children, dogs, sewing, gardening, and baking breads and desserts for her family. She liked nothing better than to be surrounded by her family with one dog sleeping on her lap and another sitting by her side.
Miss Pistoresi is survived by two sisters, Angeline Smith of the home, and Natalie Eifert of Park Ridge, Illinois; niece, Mary Anne Daly and husband, Joe, of Boone; nephews, Mark Eifert and wife Akimi, of Germany, Paul Eifert and wife, Trina, of Chicago, Illinois, and Michael Eifert and wife, Cindy, of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and great nieces and nephews, Justin, Christina and Nicholas Daly, all of Boone, Matthew Eifert of Chicago, and Emily and Julia Eifert of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Services and burial for Miss Catherine Pistoresi will be conducted at a later date at St. Joseph Cemetery in River Grove, Illinois.

Christine Main Wallace, D. Jan. 20, 2013
Mrs. Christine Main Wallace, age 93, of 21990 Highway 88 West, Zionville, passed away Sunday morning, January 20, 2013, at her home.
Mrs. Wallace was born October 26, 1919 in Ashe County, a daughter of the late Frank and Effie Roark Main. Christine was retired from Sprague Electric in Lansing. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
Mrs. Wallace is survived by one daughter, Peggy Elaine Wallace and fiance, Lynn Winebarger of Zionville; one son, Hensel Wallace and wife Betty of Boone; one granddaughter, Amy Crumpler of Boone and two great-grandsons, Andrew Crumpler and Thaxton Crumpler, both of Boone. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Jackson Wallace; son, Jimmy Wallace; three brothers, R.J. Main, Council Main, and Sylvanus Main, and one sister, Paris Campbell.
Funeral services for Mrs. Christine Main Wallace will be conducted Tuesday afternoon, January 22, 2013, at 2:00 o’clock, at Friendship Baptist Church with Pastor Jeffrey Wilson and Pastor Tim Bunten officiating. The body will lie in state, at the church, from 1:00 until 2:00 o’clock. Burial will follow in Mount Lawn Memorial Park and Gardens.
The family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon, from 1:00 until 2:00 o’clock, at the church, prior to the service. At other times friends may call at the Wallace residence, 21990 Highway 88 West, Zionville, NC.

Mr. Jan Frye, of Idlewild Road, West Jefferson, died Saturday morning, January 19, 2013, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
Mr. Frye is survived by his wife, Clelia Frye of the home; four daughters, Olga-Luz Hurtado, Marina Hurtado, and Isabel Hurtado, all of New York, and Sylvia Frye of Denver, Colorado; one son, Carlos David Hurtado of Columbia, South America; one sister, Emma Hurtado of Columbia, South America; one granddaughter, Christina Frye of Denver, and one grandson, Michael Frye of Denver.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Louis and Dolores Frye, and one sister, Sylvia Hurtado.
Memorial services for Mr. Jan Frye will be conducted Thursday afternoon, January 24, 2013, at 4:00 o’clock, at Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Boone. Officiating will be Judith Martinez.
The family will receive friends following the memorial service.
