George Robert “Bob” Fedele, age 64, of Blowing Rock, NC, passed away February 18, 2013. His life will be celebrated with a small gathering of family. Mr. David Lee Winebarger, age 54, of Cow Camp Road, Newland, passed away Friday, February 15, 2013 at Watauga Medical Center. Born February 6, 1959 in Adrian Michigan, he was a son of the late Nick and Gertrude Turbyfill Winebarger. David worked at Mountain View Correctional Institute and was a member of the Linville Central Rescue Squad.

He is survived by his wife; Clara Ward Winebarger, two sons; W. L. Winebarger and wife Jessica of Newland and Shawn Aldridge and wife Catherine of Deep Gap, two grand children; Emma and Coby Aldridge, four brothers; Buddy and Allan Winebarger both of Newland, Bruce Winebarger of Marion and Bobby Winebarger of Burnsville, one sister; Brenda Stanley of Newland and his mother in law; Ella Mae Ward of Vilas, and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters; Nancy, Evelyn and Tina Winebarger.

Services for Mr. David Lee Winebarger will be held at a later date. Mr. Keith Dotson, age 51, of Russell Beach Road, Vilas, passed away Friday night, February 15, 2013 at Caldwell Hospice & Palliative Care. Born October 3, 1961 in Watauga County, he was a son of Geneva Dotson Stevens and Dale Dotson. Keith was a carpenter.

He is survived by his wife; Ellen Adams Dotson, three daughters; Lea Harmon and husband Claude of Sugar Grove, Brandy Dotson of Sugar Grove, and Kortni Burkett of Zionville, his mother; Geneva Norris of Zionville, his father; Dale Dotson of Boone, two sisters; Penny Keistler and husband George and Shelia Brown all of Zionville, two brothers; Chris Dotson and wife Janine of Hickory and Kevin Dotson and wife Monika of Fleetwood, five grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Private funeral services for the family and close friends of Keith Dotson will be conducted Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Gary Norris. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Caldwell Hospice & Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Avenue, Lenoir, NC 28645. Kelsie Elizabeth Million, age 19, of Banner Elk, passed away Friday, February 15, 2013. Born May 4, 1993 in Watauga County, she was the daughter of Shannon Jesse and Tracy McLean. Kelsie was a graduate of Watauga County High School and worked at Sugar Mountain and Savory Thymes.

She is survived by her husband; Lee Million, one son, Peyton Lee Million, her mother and step-father; Shannon and James McCall, IV of Banner Elk, her father; Tracy McLean of Banner Elk, two brothers; Anthony Chase McLean and Ames McCall both of Banner Elk, her grand parents; Janis Davis of Fleetwood, Bruce and Jeanette McLean of Banner Elk, and Mac and Janie McCall of Taylorsville, Ed Aycock of West Jefferson, her mother and father in law; Ron and Becky Million of Boone, and one brother in law; Isaac Million of Boone.

Memorial services for Kelsie Elizabeth Million will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock at Perkinsville Baptist Church. Officiating will be Pastor Seth Norris. The family will receive friends Saturday prior to the service from noon until 2 o’clock at Perkinsville Baptist Church. Joan Ajer Blakeman, 76, of Friendship Church Rd., Boone, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Watauga Medical Center. Born May 11, 1936 in Schenectady, NY, she was a daughter of Oliver and Thelma Nyberg Ajer. Mrs. Blakeman was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. After retiring from Watauga Medical Center as a registered nurse, she and her husband enjoyed traveling in the family RV and walking Boone area trails.

Mrs. Blakeman is survived by her husband, Allan Blakeman, Sr,; three sons, Allan Blakeman, Jr. of San Diego, CA., Kevin Blakeman and wife Carmella, of Seymour, CT, and Mark Blakeman of Greensboro; four grandchildren, Ryan Thomas, Alison Mary, Danielle Elizabeth, and Matthew Mark Blakeman; and two sisters, Carole Blair and husband Forrest of Bethel, Ct and Bonnie Ajer of Southbury, Ct.

A Funeral Mass will be conducted Monday, February 18, 2013, at 11 AM at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, officiated by Father Dave Brzoska. Burial will follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5 until 7 o’clock at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home.

Chester ” Sam” Ford, age 73, of Ladybug Lane, Vale, a former resident of Watauga County, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2013, Palliative Care Center and Hospice of Catawba Valley in Newton.

Mr. Ford was born April 18, 1939 in Watauga County, a son of the late Lawerence Otto Ford and Luner Church Ford. He was a cattle farmer on his own farm.

Mr. Ford is survived by three daughters, Debbie Trivette and husband Jerry of Blowing Rock, Joy Ford of Vale, and Chubby Craig and husband Steve of Blowing Rock; one son, Bud Ford and wife Marty of Boone; one granddaughter, Misty Potter of Vale; two grandsons, Wayne Trivette and wife Brittney, and Michael Trivette and wife Leslie, all of Boone, and one brother, Pete Ford and wife Faye of Boone. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Conger Ford; and two granddaughters, Misty Trivette and Rebecca Lynn Triplett.

Funeral services for Chester “Sam” Ford will be conducted Sunday evening, February 17, 2013, at 8:00 PM, at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. The body will lie in state, at the chapel, from 6:00 until 8:00 o’clock. Officiating will be The Reverend Dr. Don Just and Mr. Harold Jefferies. Private graveside services and burial will take place Monday morning.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, at Hampton Funeral Service.

James M. “Jim” Hodges, age 76, of Dotson Lane, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2013, at his home.

Mr. Hodges was born July 20, 1936 in Watauga County, a son of the late Paul Washington Hodges and Lillie Mae Shore Hodges. He retired from Civil Service and served in the Korean War with United States Army and Air Force. Mr. Hodges played multiple instruments for the Boone Trail Band and his church, for many,many years.

Mr. Hodges is survived by his wife Jimma Lou Culler Hodges of the home; two sisters, Jane Main and husband Ronda of Granite Falls, and Jo Ann Crump and husband Jerry of Lenoir, and a special sister-in-law, Lana King of Mountain City. He is also survived by a number of special nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, who loved him.

In addtion to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Jean Eggers, brother-in-law, Blaine, and his beloved Boston Terrier, Mandolin.

Funeral services for James M. “Jim” Hodges will be conducted Sunday afternoon, February 17, 2013, at 2:00, at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. The body will lie in state, at the chapel, from 12:30 until 2:00 o’clock. Officiating will be Pastor Wynn Greer and Reverend David Hankal. Military graveside rites and burial, provided by American Legion Post 130 and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 90, will follow in Jont Brown Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon, from 12:30 until 2:00 o’clock, at the funeral home, prior to the service.
