James Conley Greene, D. Dec. 9, 2013.
Mr. James Conley “J. C.” Greene, Jr., age 89, of Ruth’s Lane, Greensboro, and a former resident of Boone, passed away Monday morning, December 9, 2013 at home.
He is survived by his wife Frances “Frankie” Teams Greene, one daughter; Linda Agnello and husband Stephen of Alpharetta, Georgia, one son, James C. “John” Greene, III and wife Donna of Raleigh, two granddaughters; Carly Agnello Bellard and husband Randy, and Tristen Agnello, one grandson; Christopher Greene, one great granddaughter; Madison Bellard and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Conley Greene, Sr. and Anner Watson Greene, a granddaughter, Mykylia Greene, four sisters; Lucy Clark, Bertie Blackburn, Eula Lawrence and Ruth Miller, and four brothers; Herbert, Kermit, Perry and Ira Greene.
Funeral services for Mr. J. C. Greene, Jr. will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Dr. Pat Knight. Entombment will follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 until 2 o’clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church, 306 Oak Grove Road, Boone, NC 28607 or to the Potter’s Hand Bible Church, 3468 Apex Peakway, Apex, NC 27502.

Jim Meyers, D. Dec. 8, 2013
James M. “Jim” Meyers, age 92, of Boone, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2013, at Watauga Medical Center.
Funeral services for James M. “Jim” Meyers will be conducted Wednesday afternoon, December 11, 2013, at 1:00 o’clock, at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. The body will lie in state, at the chapel, from 12:00 until 1:00 o’clock. Officiating will be Reverend David Ward. Burial will follow in Mount Lawn Memorial Park and Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Glenbridge Health Activities Fund, PO Box 2150, Boone, North Carolina, 28607.

Harvey Trivette, D. Dec. 6, 2013
Harvey L. Trivette, age 85, of Jefferson Road, Boone, passed away Friday morning, December 6, 2013, at Watauga Medical Center.
Mr. Trivette was born August 15, 1928 in Watauga County, a son of the late David and Elizabeth Rominger Trivette. He was a retired manager for the Winn Dixie Grocery Company and a member of Proffit’s Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Trivette served in the United States Navy during World War II.
Mr. Trivette is survived by his wife, Stella Hodgson Trivette of the home; one daughter, Dottie Morsette of Boone; three sons, Mike Trivette and wife Brenda of Boone, Danny Trivette and wife Bonnie of Cary, and Allen Trivette and wife Jane of Boone. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services for Harvey L. Trivette will be conducted Sunday afternoon, December 8, 2013, at 3:00 o’clock, at Proffit’s Grove Baptist Church. The body will lie in state, at the church, from 1:00 until 3:00 o’clock. Officiating will be Reverend Delmar James and Reverend Herbert McCoy. Military graveside rites and burial, provided by American Legion Post 130 and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 90, will follow in Meat Camp Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon, from 1:00 until 3:00 o’clock, at the church, prior to the service. At other times friends may call at the residence, 583 Jefferson Road, Boone.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donors choice.

Walter Parsons, D. Dec. 4, 2013
Walter Junior Parsons, 84, of Brownwood Road, Deep Gap, passed away Wednesday December 4, 2013 at his home. Born July 15, 1929 in Watauga County, he was a son of Walter William and Nellie Miller Parsons. Mr. Parsons was a long time member of Bethany Lutheran Church. The love of his life was his family and the light of his life was his grandchildren. He enjoyed the planting and harvest of his vegetable gardens and tending to his domestic animals. Mr. Parsons retired from Broyhill Furniture in Lenoir.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Betty Lou Hodges Parsons; daughter, Wanda Short and husband, Don, of Deep Gap; daughter-in-law, Teresa Parsons, of Butler, TN; four grandchildren, Melissa Schnieder and Justin Short, both of West Jefferson, Rebecca Lipford and husband, Heath, of Trade, TN, and Luke Short and wife, Kellen, of Boone; four great-grandchildren, Dylan Short, Elijah, Ethan and Ayden Schneider; brother, James Parsons and wife, Elree, of Lenoir; and three sisters, Ethel Jones of Todd, Ola Walker of Hickory, and Vergie Moretz of Boone.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Maurice Parsons; two brothers, Clarence and Howard Parsons; and two sisters, Lucille Watson and Ophelia Watson. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, December 7, at 2 PM at Bethany Lutheran Church, officiated by Pastor John Bollinger and Vicar James Smith. The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 12:30 until 2 o’clock, prior to services, at the church. Burial will follow in Old Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

Barbra Hills Stuart, D. Dec. 4, 2013
On December 4th, around 2:30 a.m., Barbara Hills Stuart left the life that she’d known to walk the beach with Ned, her beloved husband, who preceded her in death. Barbara loved her mountains, cherished her family, and expressed herself through watercolors.
She is survived by her daughter Susan Davis and husband Chris; son Don Stuart and wife Cindy; grandchildren Chris Davis, Scot Davis, Jonathan Stuart, Stephany Stuart-Waters, and Whitney Davis and five great grandchildren Nathan, Ellie, Adeline, Reynolds, and Walker.
Arrangements to celebrate her life are pending.

Frontis Davis, D. Dec. 4, 2013
Mr. Frontis Lynn Davis, age 58, of Boone, died December 4, 2013.
Lynn is survived by one daughter, Carrie Davis Hagaman and husband John of Boone; two granddaughters, Madelyn “Maddie” Hagaman and Elizabeth “Lizzie” Hagaman, both of Boone; his mother, Nina Davis of Boone; one sister, Ann Davis Tester and husband Eugene of Mountain City; a special friend, Denise Dietz of Zionville, and special aunts and uncles, Joyce and Ronnie Greene of Lenoir, and Roger Watson and wife Annamae of Valle Crucis.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Frontis Davis; his paternal grandparents, James and Bessie Davis, and his maternal grandparents, Walter and Effie Watson.
Memorial services for Frontis Lynn Davis will be announced at a later date.
