Top Five
(L to R): Jack Pepper, Rosa Ivey, Traci Royster, Linda Robinson, and Jenny Miller

Boone, NC — Linda Robinson was the top fundraiser in Watauga County Habitat for Humanity’s Big Kahuna competition raising a whopping $13,503!  The crown was bestowed on March 23rd during the Don Ho-Down, a celebration reception at Appalachian Mountain Brewery, where it was announced that the participants had together raised a total of $41,311, all of which will help Habitat’s next partner family have a safe, decent, affordable, and energy efficient home.

Ms. Robinson is partnered with fellow real estate broker Patti Turner at Village Real Estate in Blowing Rock.  Having been aware of Habitat’s mission prior to the competition, it wasn’t until her involvement in the competition in which Linda truly understood the idea of Habitat giving a hand up, not a hand out and expressed that  each time she passionately spoke and asked for support in the campaign to become this year’s Big Kahuna.

The Big Kahuna contest ran from February 1st – March 21st in which contestants used a variety of approaches to raise cash, from donating a percentage of sales to providing a service in exchange for a donation to asking friends directly.  All fundraising proceeds go directly to the building of homes for deserving families in Watauga County with a new home construction planned to begin in April.
