Watauga County Emergency Management Conducts Important Hazard Mitigation Survey

Watauga County is one of the counties involved in the High Country Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan. Other counties involved are Ashe, Wilkes, and Alleghany.  This plan has to be in place in order for Watauga and the other counties to receive federal funding in the event of a disaster. 

Every 5 years, the county is required to update the Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan and resubmit the plan to FEMA for approval. One of the responsibilities of each county this year is to send out a survey to the general public regarding hazard mitigation. Approval of this plan ensures potential federal funding in future disasters.
