Aug. 11, 2014. The Watauga County Board of Education meets on Monday, Aug. 11 – eight days before the first day of school of the 2014-15 school year takes place on Aug. 19.
Today’s meeting, which starts at 7 p.m. in the Gragg Education Center, has a relatively light agenda, which can be seen in its entirety here.
Personnel Advisory Committee members for each school in the Watauga County Schools system will be named:
- Bethel: Lee Carter
- Blowing Rock: Mary Catherine Felts and Harriet Stepuch as alternate
- Cove Creek: Lindsay Gough
- Green Valley: Amy Lunceford
- Hardin Park: Kim James
- Mabel: Tonya McKinney
- Parkway: Robin Ebaugh
- Valle Crucis: Steven Hagaman
- Watauga High School: Kellie Gore
WCS Supt. Dr. Scott Elliott will present the announcement of school board attorney Paul Miller’s retirement. “Board attorney selection” is also on the agenda.
In addition, Chris Devera, director of technology services, will give the board an update on the 1:1 initiative and present the Media and Technology Advisory Committee, which consists of faculty and administrators and a parent, student and school board representative. That list can be seen here.
WCS Director of Maintenance Dennis Ray will update the board on major summer projects on WCS facilities. That list can be seen below:
