Watauga County Board of Commissioners Declare July 30 to Aug. 3 as ‘A Week of Remembrance, Mourning’

July 30, 2012. In honor of Watauga County’s Sheriff’s Deputy William R. Mast, Jr., who gave his life in the line of duty while protecting our citizens, the Watauga County Board of Commissioners Chairman does hereby declare July 30 to Aug. 3, 2012, as  “A Week of Remembrance and Mourning.” The Chairman further requests that during this time all flags within the Watauga County be lowered to half-mast. Deputy Mast’s funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.

In observance of Deputy Mast’s funeral, Watauga County offices will close 12:00 noon on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, and reopen as regularly scheduled on Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012.
