The Watauga Community Band will perform a Memorial Day concert at the brand new Rotary Gazebo in downtown Blowing Rock’s Memorial Park on Sunday, May 24.

The music starts at 4 p.m., and the band under the direction of Bill Winkler, will perform selections such as “Gabriel Faure’s Fantasy,” featuring Watauga High School senior Mary Margaret Zrull on the flute, F.W. Meacham’s “American Patrol,” Joseph Willcox Jenkins’ “American Overture for Band” and John Philip Sousa’s “Stars and Stripes Forever.”

The concert is free, and all are welcome to attend this tribute to the nation’s fallen soldiers.

In a side note, the Watauga Community Band donated $10,000 for the construction of the new Rotary Gazebo that opened on Thursday afternoon, following a few months of extensive construction.

If you miss the Watauga Community Band on Sunday, the band will also perform at the annual Memorial Day observance event at the Boone Mall on Monday. See HCpress.com’s front page for more details.
