Watauga Community Band To Play Memorial Day Concert in Blowing Rock Gazebo Sunday

The Watauga Community Band will honor our fallen soldiers with its Memorial Day Concert Sunday, May 28 at 4 p.m. The concert will be held outdoors at the Blowing Rock Memorial Park Gazebo (weather permitting).

Band director Bill Winkler, will conduct the ensemble in such selections as Randall Wallace’s Mansions of The Lord, written for the movie We Were Soldiers, and John Philip Sousa’s The Stars and Stripes Forever.  The audience will be encouraged to sing along with The Ultimate Patriotic Sing Along, a medley of well-known songs, arranged by Jerry Brubaker.  Veterans will be asked to stand and be recognized when they hear their branch’s hymn during the Armed Forces Medley.

Members of the Watauga Community Band who have died will also be honored with Amazing Grace, conducted by Brian Bergin, with guest soloist Patrick Templeton on the saxophone.

This program is free, and all are welcome to come out and remember our fallen heroes.  Please join us this Sunday.
