Beverly Normand Crittenden

September 13, 1923 – June 10, 2018

Beverly Normand Crittenden passed into the arms of her loving Father June 10th, 2018, at the Foley Center in Blowing Rock, NC.

She was born September 13th, 1923 in Pineville, LA to Leila Hale Normand and Willie Paul Normand.

She was pre-deceased by her husband Malcolm “Critt” Crittenden and brother Murrell Normand.   She is survived by her son Jeff Crittenden and wife Laurie of Boone, NC; three grandchildren, Sarah Crittenden Wohlwend and husband Taylor of San Diego, CA, Zack Crittenden of Boone, NC, and Hannah Crittenden of Asheville, NC; as well as nephews and cousins.

“Bev” attended Louisiana College in Pineville, LA, then moved to Atlanta to work for Delta Air Lines.  It was at the old Atlanta airport where she met Critt.   They settled in East Point, GA where Bev was a member of Dogwood Hills Baptist Church and later East Point First Baptist Church, making many lifelong friends in those congregations.  She particularly loved gardening, and receiving and sharing plants, as many who have been the recipients of one of her irises, daylilies, hydrangeas and azaleas over the years can attest.

After her health declined, she moved to Boone to be near Jeff and his family, but remained digitally in touch with old friends via Facebook and her ipad.  She remained a lifelong fan of all things Atlanta, particularly the Braves, WSB, Clark Howard and Walter Reeves!  She was blessed to have a number of friends and family visit Boone for her 90th birthday surprise party a few years ago.  She enjoyed new friendships with staff and residents at Appalachian Brian Estates in Boone.

As a Mom, Grandma, and devoted friend, she will be sorely missed, but we rejoice in the new life she has entered.

A Celebration of Bev’s life will be held at The Pinecrest Church in Fayetteville, GA Saturday July 14th at 1 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Watauga Humane Society, Boone NC.
