Springtime in the High Country Means New Workshops with the Watauga Arts Council

As warmer weather arrives, the Watauga County Arts Council is announcing a new lineup of workshops, classes, lessons, and Arty Parties for you to enjoy!   With an assortment of topics ranging from painting, to quilting, to photography, to building a wreath or planter with live plants, the range of options is broad indeed. There is even an opportunity to build your own pottery wheel, then learn how to throw a pot on it, followed by firing the pot using an ancient pit firing method.

You can sign up for single session events such as Arty Parties or one-day workshops or you can choose from several in-depth options lasting up to seven weeks.

For those who are looking for a more in-depth opportunity, there are classes in drawing offered and even one-on-one learning experiences in drawing or learning to play a musical instrument such as violin, viola, guitar, mandolin, flute, or piano.

Registration fees are quite reasonable since the Arts Council tries hard to make the arts as accessible as possible. And if those fees are still out of reach you may contact the Arts Council for a scholarship application to help reduce your costs.

All of these learning opportunities are listed in the Arts Council’s “Online Store” on their website at www.watauga-arts.org. There you can get more information and also some information on the teachers of these various events. Since new learning opportunities are continually being added, the “Online Store” is the most up-to-date information available. You can also get more information by coming by the Blue Ridge ArtSpace at 377 Shadowline Drive in Boone.

In addition you can contact the Watauga County Arts Council at 828-264-1789 or by email at wcac@watauga-arts.org.
