You don’t have to travel far for quality entertainment. Please join us at the Walker Center.”

The Walker Center’s 2013-2014 Season Show lineup includes:

  • The Oak Ridge Boys: Opening on Friday, Sept. 13, with one of the most recognizable sounds in the music industry is the Oak Ridge Boys. The four-part harmonies and upbeat songs of the Oaks have spawned dozens of country hits and a No. 1 pop smash, earning them Grammy, Dove, CMA and ACM awards and garnered a host of other accolades. The Oaks brings four decades of charted singles, and 50 years of tradition, to a stage show widely acknowledged as among the most exiting anywhere. This performance is sponsored by Hardee’s
  • The Hit Men: We turn back the hands of time on Friday, Oct. 11, when we welcome The Hit Men to the Walker Center. This amazing supergroup of musicians, vocalists, arrangers and composers actually were the Four Season who sang with Frankie Valli. They’ve played with The Critters, Carly Simon, Jim Croce, Cat Stevens, Barry Manilow and Elton John. They are the authentic rock and rollers whose legacy includes hundreds of hit records from the 50s, 70s and 80s. This performance is sponsored by Hampton Inn and visitwilkesboronc.com.
  • Clint Black: On Saturday, Nov. 16, the Walker Center welcomes one of country music’s brightest stars, the legendary Clint Black.  To date, Black has written, recorded and released more than 100 songs. An astounding one third of these songs achieved hit song status, while more than 20 million of his albums have been sold worldwide. CMT lists Black’s 1989 critically-acclaimed debut album, the Triple Platinum Killin Time, as one of the 100 Greatest Albums in country music. This performance is sponsored by Carolina West.
  • American Big Band: The Walker Center’s ever-popular holiday show on Thursday, Dec. 5, brings American Big Band, a show-stopping synthesis of big band and Broadway. American Big Band will perform all-time holiday hits from Bing to Buble, for the ever-popular Christmas performance at the Walker Center. The cast of eight performers, accompanied by a 12-piece big band, deliver excitement from the dawn of the big band era through the decades into the 21st Century. This performance is sponsored by Carolina West.
  • Southern Fried Chicks: Come prepared for side-splitting comedu on Friday, March 28, with Etta May and the Southern Fried Chicks. What’s the best way to describe Etta May? “Minnie Pearl with a Migrane.” To put it simply, when Etta May takes the stage, she’s the reigning Queen of Southern Sass. Etta May won the prestigious American Comedy Award’s “Stand Up Comic of the Year” and has appeared on Oprah, Comedy Strip Live, MTV and as a guest commentator on “CBS Sunday Morning.” This performance is sponsored by InterFlex Group.
  • 1964-The Tribute: The Tribute Wraps up the 2013-2014 Walker Center Season. Since the early eighties, “1964” has been thrilling audiences around the globe by taking them on a journey through a quintessential moment in music history that will live forever. You can be a part of the journey on Friday, May 9, at the Walker Center. Sing along to your favorite Beatles’ hits like “Yellow Submarine”, “Let it Be,” “Hey Jude,” “Help!,” “Day Tripper,” “I Want to Hold Your Hand.” Rolling Stone Magazine calls this show the “Best Beatles Tribute on earth.” This performance is sponsored by Wells Fargo.

“Having a performing arts center on the campus of Wilkes Community College creates a foundation of entertainment for our community and surrounding areas,” says Hudler. “We hope that you will join us for a season to remember!”
