July 10, 2013. Narcotics detectives with the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 19-year-old female of Banner Elk on July 8 on drug warrants for meth, according to a release sent out by Sheriff Len Hagaman.

Referencing the age of Valerie Ann Dollar, Hagaman wrote in an email: “very, very sad.”

The warrants stemmed from an incident occurring on June 25 when detectives searched Dollar’s residence at 153 Boulder Gardens and found a shake-and-bake meth lab, meth precursors and drug paraphernalia.

She was charged with manufacturing meth, possession of meth precursors and possession of drug paraphernalia. She is currently held under a $120,000 bond and scheduled to appear in court on July 23.

The release said the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.
