A vehicle crashed into the window display of Appalachian Antiques on King Street on Monday afternoon at about 1:30 p.m.
Fortunately no pedestrians were injured as an 80-year-old woman accidentally reversed into the display. While attempting to park her vehicle on Monday, she “inadvertently hit the accelerator,” according to a release from the Boone Police Department.
The woman was driven home by a friend and was not injured.
Damage to the structure, vehicle, and parking meter, were estimated to be $13,000
Appalachian Antiques owner Jill Reeves was looking on as a tow truck operator and members of the Boone Fire Department worked on the scene. Reeves said that she rushed over after hearing about the accident.
“It’s a first,” Reeves said, adding that she would be giving Miller Industries on East King Street a call soon to order glass.
