Jan. 19, 2012. The U.S. Forest Service National Forests in North Carolina recently announced the date and locations of the first round of public meetings to take place pertaining to the Pisgah-Nantahala National Forests management plan revision.

The Pisgah National Forest includes more than 28,000 acres in Avery County and 400 acres in Watauga County, according to Stevin Westcott, the public affairs officer for the National Forests in North Carolina.

The plan has three phases and will take three years to complete. Once finished, it will guide management of the two national forests for the next 15 years.

The public meetings provide an overview of the planning process and give staff and the public an opportunity to share information about the Pisgaha and Nantahala National Forests, according to a press release.
