“We were fortunate enough to partner with the Watauga Youth Network on a grant program that provided the funding necessary for this effort,” said Lt. Danny Houck of Boone Police Department.

This enforcement program is ongoing and more compliance checks are scheduled.

“We wanted to see how prevalent the problem was and found that 16% of businesses sold alcohol to under aged persons.  We hope that our enforcement campaign will cause those who serve alcohol in our community to be cautious.  It is our hope, now that we have released this information, that we not catch anyone in violation the next time we conduct this operation, ” said Capt. Andy Le Beau.
