The Blowing Rock Board of Adjustment reversed a staff decision regarding the installation of an antique snow cat on the property of Appalachian Ski Mtn.’s visitor center
The unanimous decision means that ASM can keep the snow cat on the property, according to Blowing Rock Town Manager Scott Fogleman.
The board met last night to hear a ASM General Manager Brad Moretz’s appeal of Blowing Rock Planning Director Kevin Rothrock’s interpretation of the snow cat as a sign.
Yesterday afternoon Moretz said that the antique snow cat provides aesthetic to the property and also provides a historical element to the new welcome center.
“It makes for a real interesting artififact that sort of represents the history of the area, and we thought it would add appeal to the property,” Moretz said. “It’s almost 50 years old.”
