U.S. Forest Service Holds Community Meeting in Jonas Ridge Thursday, Discuss ‘Table Rock Fire’ in Gorge

Nov. 21, 2013. As the “Table Rock Fire” in the Linville Gorge Wilderness Area continues to endure, the U.S. Forest Service has scheduled a community meeting on Thursday, Nov. 21, to inform communities neighboring the Linville Gorge about “the processes and strategies used to identify and select fire suppression activities,” according to a release by the U.S. Forest Service. 

“The public is invited to join local US Forest Service officials and leaders from the Southern Area Type 2 Team for an opportunity to learn about the fire what has happened to date what actions are being considered and what factors will affect decisions relating to those actions,” the release noted. “There are many variables that must be considered before critical decisions are made in firefighting.”
