On this coming Sunday plan to attend the Two Rivers Community School’s annual Peace Feast. The event celebrates peace and community. There will be a warm meal served, baked goods for sale, arts and crafts for children, a Holiday Store, and live music featuring Tim Greene & Ridgeline and Nate Harris. There is no set admittance fee, although a donation is expected at the door.

The event’s sponsors are Hatchet Coffee, Stick Boy Kitchen, Ashe County Cheese, and Appalachia Cookie Company. Items from these businesses will be in the Holiday Store for purchase. All proceeds from the event will benefit out-of-class learning experiences for students. The Peace Feast traditionally helps fund the 8th grade trips to Washington D.C. and Charleston, SC as part of their study of history and environmental sciences.

While the Peace Feast is a space for current families to congregate, the school encourages families that are considering Two Rivers as an option to attend the event. “The Peace Feast is a great event to get a feel for the Two Rivers culture. In fact, when my family was choosing schools in Watauga County we attended the Peace Feast. It was great to meet current Two Rivers families and get a glimpse into the Two Rivers community” says Andrea Elaver, Boone resident and current Two Rivers’ parent.

The event will be held at the Foscoe Grandfather Community Center on Sunday, December 4th, from 1 to 5 p.m. Food will be served throughout the entire event. For questions please contact the school’s Development Director, Ryan Robinson, at rrobinson@trcsboone.org.

Founded in 2005, Two Rivers Community School is a North Carolina Green School of Quality serving grades K-8. It is a tuition-free public-charter school located in Boone, NC under the leadership of a Board of Directors made up of local community members. The Two Rivers curriculum challenges students with dynamic learning experiences both in and out of the classroom. Academics are at the core of every student opportunity with the expectation that students grow in both character and intellect during their time at Two Rivers. This year the school’s enrollment is 175 students with space still available.
