On Nov. 6 at about 9 p.m., the Avery County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a hurt man outside the Pixie Motel in Linville. Deputies responded to find Dennis Cahoon, 68 of Asheville in serious condition suffering from multiple head injuries. Cahoon was able to tell officers that two females had assaulted him and taken his car.
Deputies quickly located his vehicle traveling south on US 221 between Crossnore and Altamont and stopped the vehicle. In the vehicle were Terisa Snow, 39, of Asheville and Jamie Owens, 23, of Marion. A hammer which was used to hit Cahoon multiple times, was also found in the car. Snow and Owens had also stolen money from Cahoon and that too was located.
Cahoon is expected to recover from his injuries but suffered numerous lacerations to his head requiring numerous staples to fix. Snow and Owens are both currently charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon inflicting serious injury. Both of the suspects will also be charged with armed robbery and larceny of a motor vehicle.
