April 12, 2012. According to Sergeant Matt Stevens, Boone Police have charged two additional suspects in connection with a rash of business break-ins that occurred in the first months of this year.
Investigation into the incidents led to arrest warrants being issued for Kevin Dewight Hull, age 38 of Hickory, North Carolina. Hull is charged with 27 counts of breaking and entering, 18 counts of larceny after breaking and entering, one count of safe cracking, one count of breaking into coin operated machine, one count larceny of a firearm, and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. On March 29, 2012, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office went to a residence where Hull was supposed to be staying. After a brief foot chase, Hull was taken into custody and charged locally with a probation violation from Catawba County in addition to the Boone break-in related charges. Kevin Hull was held on a $95,000 secured bond with an April 19, 2012 court date.
Also charged was Chantiza Cook, age 31 of Boone, North Carolina. Cook was charged with one count of possession of firearm by felon, and one count of possession of stolen property. It is alleged that she assisted in the commission of these crimes. Cook was arrested by the Burke-Catawba County Sheriff’s Office on March 27, 2012 for an unrelated offense. She was held on a $5,000 secured bond with an April 19, 2012 court date.
