Traffic Stop in Avery County Leads To Arrest: Cocaine, Ecstasy Pills, Marijuana & Cash Found

On Feb. 20 at about 6 p.m., deputies from the Avery County Sheriff’s Office and NC Highway Patrol were conducting traffic stops looking for an escapee from Carter County work program. Officers noticed a vehicle trying to avoid the traffic checking station and stopped the vehicle. 

Once stopped officers conducted an investigation and found 14 grams of cocaine, 7 MDAM (Ecstasy) pills and some marijuana along with $6,142 in cash.

Arrested were Alan Wray, 34, of Charlotte NC and Kaleena Braswell, 33, also of Charlotte.

Both of these subjects were charged with possession with the intent to distribute both cocaine and MDMA and possession of both of those drugs in addition to marijuana and drug paraphernalia
