Town Tavern of Blowing Rock to Host Wine to Water Benefit Evening During Blue Ridge Wine and Food Festival

By Rachel Emily Auton

April 2, 2014. In the spirit of the Blue Ridge Wine and Food Festival, Town Tavern of Blowing Rock will host a benefit evening in honor of local charity Wine to Water at 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, with live music, door prizes, a silent auction and appropriately, wine and food.

“I’ve been waiting on the opportunity to work with Wine to Water and raise money for the cause,” said Justin Davis, owner of Town Tavern of Blowing Rock.

“I figured meshing the Wine to Water charity with the wine festival weekend was the perfect time.”

Wine to Water is a local nonprofit dedicated to providing clean drinking water and sanitation to those in need world wide, using events like the Town Tavern benefit and wine sales to fund its international aid.

“Our events are a time for people to get together and hang out and hear a little bit about our organization and the water crisis,” said Josh Elliot, media coordinator for Wine to Water.

“This community has been a great support for us, we’ve grown so much because of our support here in Boone.”

The Town Tavern event will provide patrons with several opportunities to support Wine to Water.

“We’ll bring in their wines and sell them at discounted rates as well as offering door prizes and a silent auction,” said Davis.

“Everything that we raise through the raffles and the silent auction will go directly to Wine to Water and we’ll be donating a percentage of our total sales to them, not just during the event but all day. You’ll also be able to give contributions directly to Wine to Water.”

Door prizes and auction items include golf passes, hotel and spa packages, sports memorabilia and tickets and gift cards to local restaurants.

Caitie Taylor, an acoustic singer/songwriter, will be providing live music for the night.

“It should be a good time and a great success,” said Davis.

“We’re lucky to have Wine to Water based out of Boone, it’s a charity that I believe in and I’m glad to help them out.”
