Sept. 4, 2014. The inaugural Town of Newland End of Summer Bash will take place on Saturday, Sept. 6 at the Riverwalk Bandstand. The first-ever event will start at 6 p.m. with music, food and more for attendees to enjoy.
The show kicks off with a boom when Jeremy Autry takes the stage, returning home with his band Crossing Avery just for this show.
“We always want to promote local artists, and Jeremy has been performing with John Michael Montgomery,” said Joletta Wise, Town Manager.
Aside from the music, food will be provided to the guests by local nonprofits.
“The Boy Scouts, the FSA and the Flag Team from the high school are doing snacks and food,” said Wise. “The Boy Scouts are doing hot dogs, the FSA will be doing turkey and drinks and the flag team will be doing pizza and cotton candy.”
To top it all off, the event will finish off with a fireworks show courtesy of JACO Pyrotechnics.
“We want to promote local music and bring the community together,” Wise said. “We wanted to start something that brings our community back together after school starts and before it starts snowing and we are all homebound. We hope that this will turn into an annual event.”
