The Town of Boone’s Cultural Resources Department is proud to present the 18th annual Boone BOO! on Wednesday, October 31, 2018.

During Boone BOO!, the Jones House, the Watauga County Public Library, and downtown merchants will host a fun (and spooky!) Halloween celebration for everyone. During the event, King Street (from Appalachian Street to Waters Street) will be closed from 4:30 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. to ensure pedestrian safety and to encourage a safe and fun trick-or-treating experience for all participants.

At 3:15 P.M., the Watauga County Public Library will kick-off the celebration with a spooktacular magic show by Twist the Balloon Man. After the magic show, the library will have arts & crafts and Blue Ridge Women in Agriculture will host an apple-themed booth. Stop by to enjoy apple tastings (with more than seven varieties of apples), an apple peeling activity, and a cider press demonstration. At 6:00 P.M., the library will have spooky stories that will chill your spine with Tammy at 6:00 PM for ages 10 and up.

Starting at 4:00 P.M., the Jones House Cultural and Community Center will be transformed into a silly and spooky haunted house with plenty of tricks and treats for kids of all ages! On the lawn, you can enjoy a bounce house, games with Appalachian State athletes, and give-a-ways for children of all ages. Twist the Balloon Man will be at the Jones House to create amazing (and free!) balloon art.

From 5:00 – 6:00 P.M., the community is invited to trick–or–treat at participating downtown merchants. Various downtown merchants will also be handing out non-food treats for children with food allergies as a part of the Teal Pumpkin Project. These businesses can be identified by a teal pumpkin outside their doors. For a list of participating trick-or-treating merchants, please visit the Jones House online at www.joneshouse.org.

We ask all Boone BOO! participants to be mindful and considerate of our younger participants when planning their costumes to help ensure a fun, family-friendly event for all.
