Town of Boone Decides to Cancel Boone Christmas Parade That Was Scheduled for Saturday Morning

The Town of Boone regrets to inform the public that the 2017 downtown Christmas parade has been cancelled due to inclement weather and impending safety concerns. The latest forecast includes increased snow, freezing temperatures and the potential for dangerous road conditions.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory warning, which is currently in effect through 4 p.m EST on Saturday.

While the parade is cancelled, most downtown businesses will still be open, and the Town invites the public to visit the Jones House Cultural and Community Center for free cookies, hot cider, and hot chocolate. The Jones House is decorated for the holidays, including a special spot set up for taking family photographs.

Santa will be making a special stop at the Jones House at 11:00 a.m., before his scheduled appearance at the downtown Boone Mast General Store from 1-4 p.m.

The Town of Boone would like to wish everyone a happy and safe holiday season. For more information, please visit www.joneshouse.org or call 828.268.6280.
