St. John’s Episcopal Church, a summer mission of Holy Cross Church, will kick off its 2015 summer concert series on June 7 with a jazz performance by Todd Wright, a well-known jazz artist and head of jazz studies at Appalachian State, and four of his friends. The quintet of musicians will present an evening of jazz favorites ranging from old time gospel to the likes of Duke Ellington.

The Whitetop Mountain Band, featuring the Whitetop Mountaineers, will have your toes tapping and hands clapping on July 5.

The Atlanta Guitar Trio will entertain us with a repertoire ranging from Bach to the Beatles on Aug. 2.

Back for the fifth year is the amazing and ever popular Trinity Cathedral Choir on Sept. 6.

The concerts are presented on the first Sunday of every month between June and September and are held in acoustically perfect, historic St. John’s Church, located on Herb Thomas Road in Valle Crucis (signs are always posted). Concerts begin at 5 p.m. and are free to all. Donations are gratefully accepted in order to assist the church in continuing to bring these fine musicians.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a covered dish and, including guest musicians, enjoy a potluck supper on the lawn after the performance. Please note that parking is somewhat limited, so carpooling is suggested.
