1) Peter Pedroni Memorial Charity Golf Tournament, Aug. 20

The Boone Golf Club will host the ninth annual Peter Pedroni Memorial Charity Golf Tournament on Thursday, Aug. 20. Formerly known as the Casa Rustica Charity Golf Tournament, this year’s event will support the High Country Caregiver Foundation.

Teams of four will participate in this captain’s choice tournament, which will begin with a 2 p.m. shotgun start. Prizes include a $10,000 hole-in-one and many others.

Each $135 per player entry fee includes greens and cart fees, mulligans, raffles, goody bags, lunch and dinner.

Dinner is provided by Casa Rustica at the Boone Golf Club on Wednesday, Aug. 19 at 6:30 p.m. and is followed by a silent auction at 7 p.m. and raffles. Dinner includes prime rib, grilled corn and a baked potato bar.

Golf tournament sponsorship opportunities are still available and range from $100-$1,500, giving sponsors a wide variety of options for displaying their name and information.

Entry forms and fees can be returned to Casa Rustica, 1348 N.C. Highway 105 S, Boone NC 28607. Time preferences will be accommodated by order in which team entry and fee is received. Make checks payable to Casa Rustica Charity Golf Tournament.

8pm-Closing Live Music: Redleg Husky. Redleg Husky is an Americana/folk band from Boone, North Carolina that captures the sounds of a long drive, a well-worn record, and boots on a dusty floor. Their first full-length album, Carolina, was released on March 4, 2014.

Friday July 10

Freakin’ Firkin Friday at Five continues with a cask aged Chocolate Peanut Butter Porter.

8pm-Closing Live Music: Dane Page. Dane Page has been playing music professionally for 4 years in bars/coffeeshops/breweries and wherever else in the Charlotte and Boone area, but calls the Carolina Piedmont his home. He started playing guitar in 7th grade wanting to be Jimmy Page, and still does, but music has lead him to many different genres of music, and most recently, songwriting. His songwriting influences range from modern song writers (Amos Lee, Josh Ritter, Gregory Alan Isakov, Justin Townes Earle) to classic song writers (Merle Haggard, Hall & Oates, Woody Guthrie, Paul Simon)

Lost Province Sunday: Residents of “The Lost Province” (Watauga, Ashe, Avery and Alleghany) receive 10% off food with verification of residency.

6pm-8pm Family Night Live Music: Danny Whittington and A Killa Band. Jonathan Priest, Mike Runyon and Douglas James join Danny for some tasty R&B, and seriously groovin’ funk.

3) Walk-ins to Support Avery High Cheerleaders at Back in Action Chiropractic on Saturday

Come by Back in Action Chiropractic Health and Fitness Center, 141 Shawneehaw Ave., on Saturday to support the Avery High cheerleaders. Dr. Joe will hold a walk-in clinic offering $20 adjustments and $20 mini-facials. All proceeds from this day will support the Avery County High viking cheerleaders. 5) Blowing Rock Jazz Society at Meadowbrook Inn, July 19

The July Blowing Rock Jazz Society concert will be held at 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 19 at the Meadowbrook Inn. The featured artists will be Larry Lapin on piano and vocalist Michelle Amato. 6) Caldwell County Arts Council Happenings

We will have an exhibit titled: “A Different Expression-Celebrating Me” on display July 11-18. This unique show will highlight the artwork of intellectually and physically challenged students attending Compass Classes of CCC&TI. A reception where you can meet many of the artists will be held Tuesday, July 14th, 5-7pm.

Also, the Caldwell Arts Council will be open Saturday, November 7 during the Blackberry Festival 10am-5pm, featuring free face painting and a children’s crafts.
