There will be several activities and programs led by State Park’s Ranger Sharon Becker and a couple presentations on the Spruce Fir Moss Spider by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Sue Cameron.

BRAHM Presents A Weaverly Path: The Tapestry Life of Sylvia Heyden, 8/17

A Weaverly Path offers an intimate, visually stunning portrait of Swiss-born tapestry weaver Silvia Heyden and captures the inner dialogue and meditations of an extraordinary artist in the moments of creation. The film follows Heyden during a year of weaving and reflection. Heyden creates works inspired by the Eno River in Durham, North Carolina and shares how nature, music, her Bauhaus influences, and her life experiences anchor and inform her weaving. Heyden is a 20th-century modernist whose body of work redefines the art of modern tapestry.

What: Presentation on Eclipses and the “Great American Solar Eclipse” of 2017

Get ready for the ‘Great American Eclipse’ with a special presentation by retired Appalachian State University Professor Emeritus of Physics and Astronomy Tom Rokoske at Watauga County Public Library this Wednesday. Dr. Rokoske will speak on the nature of solar eclipses, the significance of this year’s solar eclipse, which will be a a 96% covered partial eclipse in our area, tips for viewing the eclipse safely, and more. Free and open to the public. 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 16th in the Watauga County Public Library Meeting Room.
