Solar Cooking Workshop at Valle Crucis Community Park, 8/16

Valle Crucis, NC - The Valle Crucis Community Park will host a Solar Cooking Workshop on Wednesday, August 16th at 11:00 a.m. This event is free and open to the
public. Carla Ramsdell from the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Appalachian State University will discuss the science behind this cooking method, and then allow time for participants to have hands-on cooking time to see how different solar ovens perform.
Local favorite Appalachian Cookie Company has provided chocolate chip cookie dough (vegan/gluten free options available) that participants will bake using the power of the sun! The event will also include a Q&A session about solar cooking and other energy-efficient cooking methods.
This event is a fantastic way to learn more about the power of the sun in preparation for the total solar eclipse that will pass just to the south of our area on Monday, August 21st.
Valle Crucis Community Park is a nonprofit organization funded by donations from the community. For more information about the park or events happening there, visit www.vallecrucispark.org or call 828-963-9239.
