Mile High Yoga at 5506′ on Saturday, June 3

Have an on top of the world experience with Beech Mountain Resort’s Mile High Yoga. Mile High Yoga is catered to all ability levels as you reach for the sky at 5,506 feet in elevation. Our vision is to provide a secure, peaceful, and amiable environment as you perform yoga with a breathtaking view.
 
To enhance your experience, this class is accessible by chairlift, allowing scenic views as you ascend to your class. Tickets are $15 and available for purchase in Ski Beech Sports, located in our Resort Village. Participants are informed to ride the chairlift between 10:00 a.m. and 10:10 a.m. as class begins at 10:30 a.m. and lasts for approximately one hour. Yoga mats are available for rent for $2.00, and early arrival is encouraged as space is limited.
 
We proudly welcome this week’s talented instructor Noelle Austin.
 
Noelle is a 555 hr Certified Yoga Therapist. She has been teaching since 2009 and practicing since she was a little girl. Noelle teaches alignment based yoga, offering modifications, demonstration, and clear alignment cues. She believes we are all divine and we are worthy of feeling good. Yoga is a tool to help you live with more ease.

Summer of Live Music at Beech Mountain Ski Resort Lineup

Beech Mountain Ski Resort is open providing scenic lift rides, a unique 18-hole disc golf course, downhill mountain biking, yoga and more!
And, for those wanting to be surrounded by spectacular panoramic vistas while enjoying drink, food and live music, our high-altitude skybar 5506′ is located on the Peak of Beech Mountain and is only a scenic lift ride away.
The top of Beech Mountain features some of the most beautiful views in all of the North Carolina High Country and the eastern United States. From 5506′ you can see Mount Rogers and Whitetop Mountain in Virginia, and on a clear day you can even see Pilot Mountain almost 100 miles away.
Named after the height of Beech Mountain, which is 5506 feet at its zenith, 5506’will be providing a fine array of live music in the coming months to help bring an afternoon of food and drink to life on a cool summer’s day.
 
The live music scheduled for the summer of 2017 will include the following bands and dates. All shows begin at 2:30 p.m. and are sponsored by goblueridge.net, Classic 100.7 WZJS and PULSE FM 95.3.

Senior Summer Softball Starts on June 1 at the Watauga Rec Center 

3, 2, 1 and it is June 1 and start of Summer Softball at Watauga Rec 10 am .  Please bring a friend and lets kick it off with a goal of  18 -20 folks who are young at heart , so we can play a game .From then on we will be Tues at 10 , Lees Mc Rae softball complex and Thurs back at Watauga Rec .  These will be “pick up” games with whoever shows up , so come to one game or all Summer . No pressure to make all the games , but we could use your support at the start to gain some momentum and get it going .

Studio 140 Will Participate in High Country Wine Trail Kickoff, June 3

On Saturday, June 3rd, Studio 140 will be participating in the High Country Wine Trail kickoff celebration at the Banner Elk Winery with live painting by artist Kent Paulette.  He’ll be working on his largest bear painting yet.

“I started this bear three years ago at the Banner Elk Winery,” Paulette says.  “My style has changed so much in that time.  It’ll be interesting to see how those old ideas interact with the way I’m painting now.”

Later in the evening, Paulette will be in downtown Banner Elk outside of Studio 140 working on his new large deer painting.

Concert at St. John’s Episcopal Church, June 4

Sunday, June 4, St. John’s Episcopal Church presents the vocal and hand bell choirs of.Holy Cross Episcopal Church, joined by special guests, Banner Elk Presbyterian church Choir, and jazz musicians Scott Kallestad and Keith McCutchen for an old time gospel sing as well as many special selections.  The concert is at 5:00 pm, followed by a pot luck supper on the lawn.  St. John’s is located on Herb Thomas Road in Valle Crucis.  Admission $5.00, for more information call 828-963-4609
