Carolina Farm Credit Launches Program for Veterans

STATESVILLE, NC – Carolina Farm Credit is looking for Farmer Veterans to enroll in its new Ag Biz Basics course. The new 4 module course is first being offered to military veterans and can assist them in bringing their agribusiness vision to life. Whether they’re an aspiring agricultural entrepreneur, returning to a family business, or a veteran interested in being involved in agriculture, the online course can help bring those dreams to life.

The new Ag Biz Basics course is hosted by Farm Credit University, and consists of 4 online modules made up of interactive services, discussions and real life application examples.

Module Topics:

Lender Relationship

Cash Flow Planning

Balance Sheet

Income Statement

High Country Home Show Oct. 1

Thinking about adding on, updating, or building a new home?

If so, mark your calendars for the 14th Annual High Country Home Show in Ashe County, put on by Main Street Marketing and High Country 365.

For 14 years, we have hosted the previously named, Ashe County Home Sweet Home Show, with great success in this market.

We work with some incredible businesses and they are gracious enough to offer some great door prizes. Entrance to the show is free and parking will be $5 per car. Make sure to bring some extra cash to buy door prize tickets, we’ll have some great prizes to give away!

This year, the show is going to be held on Saturday, October 1st at Westwood Elementary School, located at4083 US Hwy 221 South in West Jefferson, NC. The event is from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

We have access to plenty of parking and overflow parking.

Yonder Mountain String Band Oct. 9

Yonder Mountain String Band heads out on their Fall Tour 2016 to headline venues throughout the Midwest, East Coast, and the South. Yonder Mountain performs at Legends (Boone, NC) onSunday, October 9, 2016. YMSB tours in support of their latest full-length album, Black Sheep, and recently released a music video for their new song “Alison” that’ll be featured on their upcoming studio album due out in the first quarter of 2017. To reserve a tour: call 828-295-3782 or sign up at the NPS information desk at the Manor House. Reservations are accepted beginning at 10:00am Friday for the upcoming weekend only. No advance reservations, please.

October 6th, 2016 – Watauga County Public Library – Meeting Room

The Watauga County Public Library will be hosting a Pink 4 Lunch event with the Susan G. Komen Foundation of Northwest North Carolina on Thursday, October 6th from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.

The Susan G. Komen Pink 4 Lunch program was designed to educate community members about breast health and the importance of early
detection of breast cancer. A presentation will be given while participants
eat lunch and guests will have the opportunity to win special giveaways!
