Fall Equinox Party for Singles 55+ on Sept. 22

for Singles over 55 in Avery, Watauga & Ashe County
Boone Senior Singles 55+ is a group providing a social
outlet for single people over 55 in our area.
Thursday, September 22 at 5 PM is our biggest event of the
year starting at 5PM and ending whenever.
Location:  120 Shiloh Lane, Boone (Foscoe), NC
Parking may be limited, you can use the parking lot at Hwy 105
and Fred Hatley Rd.  We will have shuttles or you can walk
1/10 mile to the house.  Call 828-964-9005 if you need help.
5-6PM – Cocktail hour, ice breaker, and seasonal
6PM – Dine on seasonal foods,
7-9PM – Andie will give a brief line dance lesson, then free
dancing into the night.  I’ve requested some slow music so
think about who you want to ask.
Please make a $6 donation or bring a seasonal dish that you
have prepared.  You are welcome (and encouraged) to BYOB.

Beech Mountain, NC, September 19, 2016- On Friday, October 28th, come join Beech Mountain Parks and Recreation for a very ghastly Halloween Party! We will be having our first Trail-or-Treat this year, taking place at Buckeye Recreation Center, starting at 5:00PM till 6:00PM. Immediately afterwards, get ready to help the Town of Beech Mountain’s Ghost Buster squad get through Buckeye Recreation Center’s spooky haunted house. Halloween party is from 6:00PM to 8:00PM.
This is a FREE family friendly event that offers age appropriate games, activities, crafts, and a haunted house.

One Woman Play About Mary Anna Morrison Oct. 8 in Caldwell

The Caldwell Historical Society and Caldwell Heritage Museum are jointly sponsoring a performance by Nora Brooks of her one woman play about Mary Anna Morrison who was from Lincoln County NC and the wife of famed General Stonewall Jackson to be held at The Caldwell Heritage Museum at 7 pm on Saturday October 8trh, 2016. Ticket prices are $10.00 for seniors and $12.00 for all others and are available at the Caldwell Heritage Museum at 112 Vaiden St SW Lenoir NC 28645. Seating is limited to 90. Tickets will be available at the Museum on a first come first serve basis or until seating capacity is reached.
Miss Brooks is a North Carolina native and holds a BS degree in Administration of Criminal Justice from UNC Chapel Hill and a teaching certificate from UNC Charlotte. She retired from a 26 year career in teaching US History in 2011 and has been presenting various historical dramas since 1996. She has performed at a number of venues throughout the southeast and the east coast.

Pinto Bean Supper Sept. 24 at Bethelview UMC

A Pinto Bean Supper will be held on Saturday, September 24, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Bethelview United Methodist Church, located on Ridge Road just off Castle Ford Road in Boone.  The menu includes pinto beans, cornbread, slaw, variety of potatoes, variety of desserts and variety of beverages.  Take-outs will be available.  Donations for the supper will be accepted.  For more information or directions, call828/264-3390.
