Picnic with a Ranger On Labor Day Weekend

 Pack a meal, gather your friends and family, and join a Park Ranger for a picnic on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Ranger Abby Jones will be on hand to talk about the fine tradition of picnicking in National Parks over their hundred year history.

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is the nation’s largest volunteer-run tax preparation and assistance service. And we want you to join us.

You’ll be helping people in your own community with a much-needed service that’s free, individualized and has no strings attached.

Who will you help as a volunteer?

Almost four out of five people who turn to AARP Foundation Tax-Aide are 60 or older.

Good with numbers? Be a tax volunteer.

You’ll work with taxpayers directly; filling out tax returns and helping them seek a refund. Experience isn’t necessary — we’ll train you on the latest tax preparation forms and software.

Empty Bowls Event in Avery Saturday

There will be an Empty Bowls event for the hungry in Avery Family to be held this Saturday the 27th at Land Harbor club house make a donation and pick a bowl made by the students of Avery County High School and local potter’s.  Enjoy a homemade soup of your choice along with  breads and desserts with a drink.  All you can This event is put on by Feeding Avery Families, Inc., serving all of Avery County reaching over 1,100 individuals monthly.  Information @ 828-260-6043.

Flower Bouquet Workshop at Beech Sunday

Whether you are an aspiring floral gardener, soon-to-be-bride on a budget, or are simply looking for a new creative outlet, we welcome you to join us on the mountain for a Flower Bouquet Workshop.
Learn the art of creating and arranging beautiful bouquets with the helpful guidance of Kaci from Trosly Farm.  She will be providing antique vases and an assortment of fresh flowers for everyone to build their own vase.
