1) Registration Open for Greenway Pee Wee Basketball Through Nov. 12

A High Country Tradition continues for Children in grades 1-4 with the 24th edition of Greenway Pee Wee Basketball. Registration is now open and continues at the Greenway Baptist Church office at 880 Greenway Road Or on line at www.greenwaybaptist.com until November 12th. 2) Celebrate Singing Set for Nov. 5 at BUMC

Join the fifth annual Celebrate Singing event on Friday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. at Boone United Methodist, 471 New Market Blvd. in Boone. Free admission and donations accepted to support the music scholarship program of the Watauga County Arts Council. Enjoy performances from 5th Edition, Treble Attraction, Appalachian Youth Chorale and music ensembles from Watauga High, Hardin Park, Green Valley and Valle Crucis schools.

3) ASU to Test Campus-Wide Siren on Nov. 4

Appalachian State University will test its campus-wide siren warning system Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 11:55 a.m.

The campus drill also will include a recorded message indicating the beginning and end of the test.

4) Caregiver Foundation Offers Day Break Group Respite Care on Tuesdays and Fridays

The High Country Caregiver Foundation is proud to offer Day Break, a group respite care program for caregivers and their care recipient.  This program is specifically designed for individuals with memory loss, forgetfulness or early stages of Alzheimer’s.  Day Break is offered every Tuesday from 1-5pm at Alliance Bible Fellowship and every Friday from 9am-2pm at Boone United Methodist Church.  There is $20 fee but scholarships are available.  Contact Brenda Reece with additional questions at 828-265-5434 ext. 128.
