2) Wilkes Playmakers Production of True West Opens Friday
Wilkes Playmakers will present True West beginning October 23, 2015 at Benton Hall, 300 D Street, North Wilkesboro, NC. True West has become recognized as renowned playwright Sam Shepard’s signature work amongst an array of celebrated plays. True West is a character study of the relationship between two brothers – Austin and Lee, with each brother secretly wishing to be more like the other. Austin, the achiever, is working on a script he has sold to producer Saul Kimmer when Lee, a demented petty thief, drops in. The brothers’ interactions with Saul set new wheels in motion. Their mother’s arrival serves to reinforce an old family dynamic that has been brewing beneath the surface all along.
Director Wes Martin stated that he is pleased to be working with Wilkes Playmakers on this show and especially glad to have the opportunity to work again with friends and former students in the Playmaker theatre family. Co-director Krissey Browder stated that she is grateful to have the opportunity to work and learn from such talented actors and crew.
