Sept. 21, 2012. Today is International Day of Peace. Numerous events are scheduled, including peace talks, African drumming and dance, a film screening and a parade put together by the Elkland Arts Center in Todd that starts at 4 p.m.

Friday, September 21
1 to 3 p.m. – Peace Talks at Green Mother Goods. Topics include: Abolition of Modern Day Slavery, Peaceful Purchasing, Sustainable Food for a Sustainable Future, ‘Guide of an Awakening Planet’ discussion with Robert Roskind
2 to 3:45 p.m. – Peace Flag Creation: A community art project located in the Watauga County Libary Meeting Room
4 p.m. – Peace Parade hosted by Elkland Art Center. Please gather on the Watauga County Library Lawn at 3:45.
6 to 7 p.m. African Drumming and Dance with Sherone Price at the Turchin Center for Visual Arts
Sunday September 23
Movie Screening: The Day After Peace, Hosted by The Center for Judaic, Holocaust, and Peace Studies, 3:00-6:00pm in Room 114 of the Appalachain State University Library.
