Sept. 15, 2014. The Watauga Humane Society has announced that tickets are now available for the highly-anticipated Fur Ball. The 17th annual event will be held this year on Saturday, Oct. 4 at the Blowing Rock Country Club.
This event is the largest fundraiser for the Watauga Humane Society, and is a means to help the nonprofit organization to manage the annual operations budget of $650,000, the Humane Society stated in a press release.
All of the money raised during the event will go toward funding the operations budget at the humane society.
The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with cocktails and a silent auction. Donated items at the auction include gift certificates to local dining hot spots, quilts, crafts and artwork, pet supplies and much more. Following the silent auction, dinner will be served at 7 p.m. and will be followed by a live auction.
In past years, the Fur Ball has raised more than $70,000 per year for the cause, and the organization hopes that this year fares even better.
“Last year we raised 79,420,” said Vickie Young, who helps to coordinate the event. “We did really well last year. Our goal this year is $78,050.”
Entertainment for the evening will be provided courtesy of the Centerpiece Jazz Sextet which will perform a collection of classic jazz, swing, show tunes and ballads.
Tickets for the Fur Ball are $100 per person, with tables for ten for $1,000. Seating for the ball is limited to just 220, so you must purchase your tickets in advance. For tickets, contact Jan Watson at 264-1743 or [email protected]
So far about half of the tickets have already been sold, so be sure to get your tickets while you can. The deadline for purchasing tickets is Sept. 26.
