“It really has been amazing. There has definitely been a resurgence of interest in the Wizard of Oz. There is a whole new wave of people interested in the story.”

In a little more than five weeks, every single one of the 7,000 tickets that are offered for the event have completely sold out.

“They used to have tickets at the gate every year because it never completely sold out, but not this year,” said Gavenus. “This year we were getting a lot of requests for tickets before they were even up for sale. The tickets went up for sale in the beginning of August and now they are all gone. Every day now we have about 30 people calling and asking for tickets.”

This year’s Autumn at Oz is set for Oct. 4-5. On those dates, fans will come from near and far to spend a few hours touring Dorothy’s House and Uncle Henry’s barn as well as enjoying a nostalgic stroll with Dorothy and friends along the yellow brick road.

There will be vendors selling Oz-related merchandise, vendors selling a variety of foods and a mini-Oz museum with artifacts from the park and from the actual movie.

As always, skilled actors will reprise rolls as Dorothy, Tin Man, Scarecrow, Cowardly Lion, Glinda the Good Witch, Wicked Witch of the West, the Great and Powerful Oz and a group of flying moneys.
