More than 60 restaurants in the High Country are participating in a Friends of the Watauga County Public Library fundraiser.
The local establishments are each donating two meals for either breakfast, lunch and dinner to be packaged in a raffle, where there will be multiple winners of various levels.
Tickets for the fundraiser go on sale beginning April 15. The last day to purchase tickets is June 17 or when the tickets sell out. No more than 400 tickets will be sold. Tickets cost $15 for one or $25 for two.
“We are really excited about our fundraiser,” said Mary Sue Morgan, a board member. “It will be a great boost to the library budget.”
She added that all of the proceeds, which are estimated to come out to $5,000, will go towards the Watauga County Public Library for the purchase of new books and adult and children programming.
Board Chair Beth Mueller, who used to be the librarian years ago before retirement, said that the response from the local restaurants was “amazing.”
The top prize package is valued at $500 and will contain certificates for eight meals for two at eight different restaurants. The smallest prize package will contain four meals for two at four different restaurants. The certificates are good until at least March 2016.
The raffle drawing will take place at the Watauga County Public Library on Thursday, June 18, at 10 a.m.
The tickets will be sold at the Watauga County Public Library in downtown Boone, the Western Watauga Branch Library in Cove Creek, Deerfield Pharmacy, Boone Drug at New Market, Stickboy Bakery, Incredible Toy Company and by board members of the Friends of the Watauga County Public Library.
