By Madison Fisler Lewis

Feb. 16, 2015. Tickets are currently on sale for the highly-anticipated BANFF Mountain Film Festival, held March 27-28 in the Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts at Appalachian State University. The popular event is presented by ASU’s Department of Outdoor Programs, Appalachian Geology and Footsloggers.

“At the film festival in Banff every year, they get about 400 films from many countries. They choose the top 40 award winning films and those films go on a world tour to over 500 locations across the globe, and we are one of those locations,” said Rich Campbell, director of Appalachian State University’s Outdoor Programs, in a previous interview.

From a release:

Immediately following the Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival in November, a selection of the top films banffsubmitted to the Festival go on a tour around the world. Host organizations in each tour location choose a program that reflects the interests of their community, creating a unique celebration of adventure and adventurers at each stop.

The Schaefer Center will be showcasing different films each night. Tickets are only available in advance, and the show is expected to sell out soon. Admission for the screening is $8 for students and $12 for adults. Showtime for both dates is 7:30 p.m.

Currently, there are only 278 tickets left for Friday, and 237 left for Saturday, according to the Schaefer Center Box Office. Tickets are available only at the box office and at Footsloggers, or online here.

Doors to the Schaefer Center will open at 6:30 p.m., with live music in the auditorium each night before the beginning of the film screenings to create a festive atmosphere. To view BANFF videos, click here.
