The sights and sounds of An Appalachian Summer Festival are bringing the season to life in the High Country. AASF, the Southeast region’s can’t-miss multidisciplinary arts festival, has packed the month of July with unforgettable performances and displays. Parsons Dance – Friday, July 10

The New York City-based professional dance company Parsons Dance will perform at the Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts on July 10 at 8 p.m. World-renowned for its dancers’ nimble physiques and stunning ensemble work, Parsons Dance will deliver an exciting experience not to be missed. Brian Stokes Mitchell with the Winston-Salem Symphony – Saturday, July 11

Named “The Last Leading Man” by The New York Times, Brian Stokes Mitchell has enjoyed a rich and varied career on Broadway, television and film, along with appearances in the great American concert halls. On July 11 at 8 p.m. the Schaefer Center for the Performing arts will welcome Mitchell with the Winston-Salem Symphony, one of the region’s oldest and most respected professional arts organizations. Eastern Festival Orchestra with Awadagin Pratt, piano – Sunday, July 12

Under the direction of Maestro Gerard Schwarz, the Eastern Festival Orchestra returns to the festival on July 12 at 4 p.m. in the Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts for an afternoon of performances featuring soloists Awadagin Pratt (piano) and Amber Carpenter (harp), first-prize winner of the 2014 Rosen-Schaffel Competition for Young and Emerging Artists.
