Tweetsie Railroad Theme Park Brings Learning to Life with 7th Annual Event and Learning Express Days

April 24, 2013. Tweetsie Railroad – North Carolina’s first theme park – is proud to welcome Letterland© back to the park for its seventh consecutive season on May 8, 9, 15 and 16, 2013. Tweetsie is teaming up with the world renowned reading program on this fun, interactive educational event and to promote literacy efforts throughout the state of North Carolina.

Tweetsie Railroad’s Letterland Days transforms the popular park into a magical world that will delight and educate children. Favorite Letterland characters like Clever Cat, Yellow Yo-Yo Man, Eddy Elephant, Harry Hat Man, Kicking King and Red Robot come to life. Guests can also ride on Firefighter Fred’s Ferris Wheel, Talking Tess’s Train, explore Zig Zag Zebra’s Zoo and much more!

Letterland’s child-friendly, multi-sensory approach phonics program has been successfully helping raise literacy standards among North Carolina children.

In 2007 local reading specialist Kathy Oliver first brought the program to Tweetsie. Since then, Letterland Days at Tweetsie has grown to serve as a celebration of students’ learning achievements, and reading assessment scores continue to improve in districts using Letterland.

As part of the park’s continued commitment to education, Tweetsie visitors can also take part in the Learning Express every Friday starting April 19, 2013 and every Friday after Labor Day through November 2, 2013.

The Learning Express provides a full day of fun at Tweetsie Railroad, including a ride on the Learning Express Train. This special ride makes history, math and science fun and exciting. Tweetsie also offers curriculum guides for parents and teachers at Tweetsie.com to help further increase the educational value of the Letterland and Learning Express experiences.
