Join this series of 4 classes on Thursday afternoons from 4:00 until 6:30 p.m. to prepare foods that fit into the classic Mediterranean way of eating and then enjoy dinner together.
Classes will be held at the Watauga Agricultural Conference Center, 252 Poplar Grove Rd in Boone, August 23rd, 30th, September 6th and 13th.
Eating like those who live in the Mediterranean region has been shown to promote health and decrease risk of many chronic diseases. Eating this way is not only healthy, it is delicious and satisfying. Check out medinsteadofmeds.com for recipes and information on this way of eating.
Mediterranean meals are rich in lean proteins like legumes, fish, white meat, and nuts. Meat is used sparingly and is generally typically grilled. Meals are spiced up with herbs like basic, thyne, dill, mint, garlic, fennel, and saffron among others. Vegetables are used in a variety of forms like baked, roasted, sautéed, grilled, pureed, and served fresh in salads. There is an emphasis in eating meals that are light and healthy in this way of cooking.
Class size is limited, so reserve your space in advance by paying $60 for all four classes, including dinners, at Watauga NC Cooperative Extension, 971 West King St., Boone. Check or cash only.
